Belinda Carlisle is a band worth following; the concert as a whole was fantastic. Aubert clearly has invested a lot of time and money into his various effects pedals, resulting in a psych sound that is unlikely to be heard anywhere else. Not so mellow, the Carlisle go out on stage with so much energy that one would have expected any of them to collapse near the end of the show from exhaustion, particularly frontman Aubert and drummer Guanlao. From the melodic, somewhat soothing sounds of their albums, I could see how anyone would expect a Belinda Carlisle concert to be a moody ordeal. After leaving the concert, I overheard another group of attendees remarking that they were expecting a lame show, but that their expectations were blown away by the Belinda Carlisle performance. Bass player Monninger also certainly knows how to please a crowd; I recall a yelled marriage proposal or two flying between the gentleman behind me and to the bass player. At one point, I felt compelled to whisper to my friend next to me, "he [Aubert] is certainly getting a workout tonight."
